Login to Windows 10

Explains how to get logged in Windows 10

Lock Screen

Windows 10 has a screen called the lock screen. This screen shows the date & time and a full screen image while your computer is either locked, or waiting for somebody to log in. To change the image that is displayed on this screen see Changing the Lock Screen Background in Windows 10 .

To clear the lock screen and get to the log in screen perform any of the following options:
  • Click anywhere on the screen with your mouse.
  • Press the spacebar on your keyboard.
  • Swipe a finger up the screen, if you have a touch screen.
Some computers on campus, primarily CLCs, will ask that you still press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to clear this screen.

Login Screen

The login screen will show the last user who used the computer, or the user who is currently logged into the computer. In CLCs, you will be asked to enter your username and password to login.

If your account is not the one listed, you can click Other User in the bottom left corner to enter your username and password. In CLCs, the computer will have to be restarted before you can log in.
