Spam Reporting

Reporting SPAM and Phishing Emails

If you believe you have been the recipient of a SPAM email or the target of a malicious phishing attack, it is crucial that you report the issue as soon as possible.

Outlook Exchange Users (faculty and staff)

For both SPAM and phishing emails:

  1. Create a new message.
  2. Click Insert.
  3. Click Outlook Item.
  4. Select the message that you suspect is a SPAM/Phishing email.
  5. Click OK.
  6. If you suspect the message is SPAM, address the email to: 
  7. If you suspect the message is a part of a Phishing attack, address the email to:
  8. Add the subject line: "SPAM received" for SPAM and "Phishing received" for Phishing.

Gmail Users (students)

For SPAM emails:

  1. While viewing the suspected email, simply click Report SPAM at the top of the page (it looks like a stop sign).  

For Phishing emails:

  1. Log in to Gmail.
  2. Open the message that is believed to be a Phishing email
  3. Press the three vertical dots to the right of the reply arrow
  4. From the drop down select forward
  5. Send to:
  6. Add the subject line of: "Phishing received".
